Muhammad Yusuf Khan, better known by his stage name Dilip Kumar, was a renowned Indian actor who was born on December 11, 1922, in Peshawar, British India (now in Pakistan). He was among the most well-known and significant actors in Indian film history.
Dilip Kumar's acting career began in 1944 when he made his debut in the film "Jwar Bhata." However, his performance in the 1947 movie "Jugnu" is what made him famous. In classic movies like "Andaz" (1949), "Deedar" (1951), and "Daag" (1952), he went on to give a string of critically lauded performances.
He co-starred in the timeless classic "Mughal-e-Azam" (1960) with actress Madhubala, who was one of his most well-known partners. Prince Salim was portrayed by Dilip Kumar in the movie, and it is still renowned.
Dilip Kumar showed his flexibility throughout his career by taking on many parts in films including "Devdas" (1955), "Naya Daur" (1957), and "Gunga Jumna" (1961). He was known as "The Tragedy King" because of his innate acting talent and his capacity to communicate a wide spectrum of emotions.
